A Christianly Love

A WORD OF THANKS

I know I've expressed my thanks on the blog before, but I wanted to write again to say thank you to the many people who have encouraged us and helped us financially and in other ways. I'd also like to thank specifically those of you who volunteered time and energy to help with the benefit breakfast for Ethen yesterday. Thank you also to the organizers and people who donated items for the breakfast and auction. It was an encouragement to see everyone there to support our boy!
I'm sure it will be no surprise that the past three months or so have been difficult for us in various ways. One of the difficulties for Christie and me is that we like to be independent and to feel self-sufficient. But in the face of battling cancer with your youngest kid, you can't be independent. You've got to receive help. You need doctors and medical personnel, you need people to help with your other kids, you need a break from holding your baby to get some fresh air, you need financial support, but you also need to know that people care and they're thinking about you and praying for you. The amount of help we've received has been so humbling. Thank you all!

CHEMO THIS WEEK

As I wrote last week, we'll be going to the clinic tomorrow to check Ethen's blood counts to determine if we can start round four of therapy. Please pray that Ethen is ready for therapy. This week off seems to have done him well, but we need to stay as close to the therapy schedule as possible. Another matter for prayer is Ethen's weight. His eating this week has been good. At times he's been ravenous and scarfed down whatever was set before him, but at other times he's eaten more lightly. Please pray that he's gained enough weight to forgo the NG tube.
