Round 3
The weekend and the start of the week have been mostly uneventful. We've been preparing for a crosstown move, which has kept us busy, but we've been able to enjoy some fun family time amidst the boxing and other preparations. Ethen was so playful and cheerful—he even took a nap or two on me! Though we were encouraged by Ethen's copacetic state, we knew it would be disturbed this week.
The spunky cheer has indeed waned over the past day as he's received his first two treatments of chemo. Though he's still "up and at 'em" for periods of the day, he's much more easily fatigued and less voracious around meal time. One of the medicines, Cisplatin, can cause Ethen to have a metallic taste in his mouth, which quite understandably makes him not want to eat anything. He has tried, but he spits most things out right away. Thankfully we are halfway done with this round of chemo.
Please pray with us that Ethen will be able to consume more calories. We are happy that he has been able to eat some things, but we know he'll need to eat more to sustain his weight. Pray also that the chemotherapy is effective in destroying the cancer cells.
