It Happened

HOME

We made it home! One of the most anticipated parts of coming home was the reunion with our big kids. We joined up with them back at the house and spent some therapeutic time outside. Christie and I alternately played "King of the Mountain" with Hudson on some newly sawn tree logs and pushed Mikayla as she swung on the swing set. Being away from them for the majority of time over the last several weeks makes the little developmental changes (e.g, Hudson is getting really brave) they've undergone stand out as bittersweet. We're excited to see them develop, but we want to be there for them to lead them and love on them. I know it might seem a little short-sighted, but life is short and it seems to race by. We'll try to push pause this week and soak up some family time. Pray we can make some sweet memories and have lots of fun.

UPDATE ON ETHEN AND HIS SCHEDULE

Obviously Ethen's white blood cell levels made the expected comeback sooner rather than later—we're thankful! We'll have some home care to administer over the next several days, but not without a clinic visit on Thursday for a check in. As long as all goes well at the clinic we can stay home through the weekend. The plan at the moment is to return to the hospital on Monday for an endoscopy to determine Ethen's suitability for a gastric tube, which will, barring any red flags, be surgically inserted on Tuesday. Chemo is also scheduled for Monday, for which we'll be admitted to the hospital. We're hoping that round 2 will go more smoothly! Pray Ethen gains strength and weight.
