Fluid Around the Lung and Another Needle Stick
This morning we consulted with the medical team concerning Ethen's breathing condition. He has required increased oxygen flow during the night, which is obviously not good for getting out of the hospital. Based on X-ray images and the CT scan from a couple days ago the doctors believe there is fluid seeping into Ethen's right pulmonary pleura (the sac lining the lung). Because his fluid retention has decreased elsewhere in his body, the extra fluid here is concerning as it is not going away through the diuretic measures taken thus far. Due to risk of infection in coming days we are taking preemptive measures to aid his immune system. Late this afternoon Ethen will go for an ultrasound to determine where the fluid is, and the radiologist will perform a centesis to release the fluid. Please pray the anesthetic does not have long-lasting effects on Ethen. Pray the procedure is successful and that no other fluids collect around Ethen's lung.
Prayers of healing and confort for Ethen & much love to all of you.
